Meet Jana sheehan msw, lICsw
An adoptive parent herself, Jana has extensive experience in providing support, resources, and education for the adoption and foster community. Jana has served on the board of Heart for the Fatherless, a local adoption advocacy organization, for the past 10 years. She played an integral part in the creation of their program that supports parents of children with an early history of trauma and other special needs in both a one-on-one and group basis. Jana has a special interest in counseling those who are raising children with behavioral and other challenging needs in order to offer hope, validation, and help in improving day-to day life.
Jana also volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem for Benton and Franklin County. There she was a court advocate for foster children in the local area. She witnessed the ongoing cycle of trauma and abuse that can be passed generation to generation and saw the need for counseling adults of all ages who have developed distorted beliefs and behaviors due to their difficult beginnings. She especially hopes to help them end the cycle in order that they might raise their own children in a healthier environment.
Jana served her internship at Grace Clinic in Kennewick. No matter what challenges a person faces, Jana believes there is hope in all circumstances and has a special heart for counseling those who have little hope left for themselves.
